Vaunted Videoblog Vriday - Halloween Freak Train...

so hey, lookin' at the calendar you'd see that it's one of those "Fridays" all of a sudden. Indeed, since this past Monday was the date of Freak Train for October, and since both Justin and I went and performed, I have some videos to share with you kids. Just for the Hell of it, let's start with Justin's "Mario Monologue"...

Once again, Justin has quite the feel for the types of people which attend Freak Train and their entertainment wants and needs. That and, even though he's not quite fat enough, he makes a pretty convincing Mario...

Moving along to my performance from Monday, last year about this time, I did a little Halloween-themed karaoke act as "The Spooky Singing Ghost and his Disembodied Band." this year, not only did I ditch the Halloween theme, I was able to convince Terry, an engineer from work and a damn fine guitar player, to come up and back me up as I sang shouted like a nutcase into the microphone. Anyhow, here that is:
As always, I recommend listening with headphones as it might be hard to understand otherwise.

So yeah, there you go. More with the Freak Train videos for your visual enjoyment. As always, thanks for stopping by...You kids have a fine weekend now...

Vaunted Videoblog Vriday - Ghosts! LIVE ON STAGE!..

And WOAH, Holy CRAP! It's Friday all of a sudden! Well, kids, you know what THAT means! It's Videoblog day! No, really. It IS. Look, it can't be Photoblog Phriday EVERY Friday now, can it? Anyhow, I'd like you to all turn your attention to the video below which captures for posterity my performance at Freak Train this past Monday (October 30). Who's the Spooky Singing Ghost? I am...
I recommend wearing headphones, otherwise it'll be all "hard to understand" and stuff.

And if you want to catch Pat Angello doing a spot-on Pee-Wee Herman interpretive dance, you can check that out right here.
So there's that. As always, thanks for stopping by. You kids have a great weekend now.

Phrickin' Photo...Wait, What The Hell Is THIS!?..

Ok, look. Don't get used to what you're about to see today. This is just a test. A slight deviation. That's right, in lieu of the Phrickin' Photoblog today, you're getting a...um...Vaunted Videoblog...In it, I sing off key and I look (mostly) stupid and I zoom in way too close on my face. Especially my mouth. Anyhow, take a look:

And there's that. You all have a fine weekend now!..

Phrickin' Photoblog Phriday: Sing It, baby!..

And so, true to my word, I am posting a photoblog for Phriday. The fodder for such things emerged from the karaoke fun which was had by all yesterday evening at my (humble) abode. Since I don't have a whole lot of time to get this done, let's dispense with the niceties and get right down to business...

Oh how happy!
Look how happy I am! I must be getting ready to sing (or something!) Ok, I lie. This was taken this morning as my wife and I were getting ready to head up to Dave & Buster's for some lunch and "fun." Dig my Colorado Rockies baseball/hockey jersey...Anyhow, on to the next picture...

more with the happy!
As you can see, there was happiness enough to go around last night prior to the singing...Actually, I believe that my dad was happy here, not because he was planning to sing ('cause he wasn't), but because the Avalanche were really whuppin' the Canuckleheads last night. Way to go, Avalanche!..

sing it!
Here's my sister, thrilling the crowd with her rendition of (most likely) "I've got the music in me." Look at the redeye she gots! Unless I'm mistaken, that proves that she's gots 'de Devil inside her as well...

collin sings: approved by God
On the flip side of the coin, however, we see that Collin (depicted here belting out some sort of meaningful melody) has been given a halo, presumably by some higher power. That is, if you count my kitchen ceiling fan as a higher power...Anyhow, look at the glow!..

you're singing? mm hmm, that's nice...
And here we see that my mom was completely disinterested in what my wife was singing at this particular moment. Observe how she defiantly flips through an old issue of the Hockey News while my wife gives her all in a effort to entertain...It's tough to crack some people...

again: no interest
Hey, I see a pattern (of complete disinterest) here...Again, mom just ain't havin' any of the singin'...She'd rather read...(or maybe she's looking at pictures of Peter Forsberg)...As a sidenote: see that star on my mom's shirt? Yep...She wore it so that she could be a superstar when she sung...SUPERSTAR!..

So that's that! You kids have a fine Veteren's day and also a fun weekend. We'll see you all on Monday...

It's Karaoke Night Tonight!..

That's right: big time singin' and drinkin' at my place tonight. So, if you live here in town (and you know where I live), you're invited...Starts around 7pm...

I know, I know...It's not polite to talk about a party that not everyone is invited to...To ease the pain (and to serve as a distraction), I give you a (poorly drawn) depiction of some sort of cannibal headhunter guy...

So there's that...Enjoy your Thursday, kids!..

Phrickin' Photoblog Phriday-Sing For Your Supper...

Because you asked...nay clamored for more, and mostly because it's Friday, you get yourself (yet another) Phrickin' Photoblog to view and enjoy!..No, no need to thank me...It's what I do! Ah-heh...anyway, today's subject matter is NOT chock full of pictures taken at the Craftwood Inn during a visit from our Pennsylvania friends (sorry Andy). No, today's junk is merely stuff that was taken during my SISTER'S birthday party way back in January. Of course, as should be the case with these "birthday parties," THERE WAS KARAOKE! As such, most of the pictures that will be featured today are of people with their mouths open. while singing. mostly. sorry...

regardless, HERE WE GO! click and see bigger (you know you want to)...

foot is shocked
To start things off today, we have my sister, mouth agape due to shock and surprise. Said "shock" is due to the fact that she had just found out that I gave her a CD+G decoder and some CD+G disks for her birthday. I don't know if she's used it yet, or if it's even hooked up, but it shocked her...Yes it did...Shock...bzzt...

Kath and Squeesh
Here you can see Kathy (on the left there), whom I work with, chatting about some apparently intense subject matter with my wife (on the right there). I cropped this photo in the manner which I did NOT JUST so you could see Sergeant Hoeppel's bald head there, but so you could see that kick-ass 60s wall clock. Granted, the damn thing doesn't keep time anymore, BUT YOU ARE TRANSIFXED BY IT'S BEAUTY! The clock, it makes you sleepy...

foot will sing
Here we have ourselves a shot of the birthday girl of the day, preparing to thrill us with her vocal stylings...That, or she's gonna sing something...not sure...Either way, she sure looks happy! Must be the shock...

sleepy
Now, I'm not sure whether Sergeant Hoeppel is asleep in this particular picture, or if he's simply pouring his heart (and soul, too) into the version of "The Love Boat" theme which he was singing. Either way, he's pretty damn tall...Herman Munster tall, to say the least..."soooon we'll be taking another run..."

is that Ogie Ogilthorpe?
No, kids, that's not Ogie Ogilthorpe of Slap Shot fame, it's our old (shaggy) buddy Collin thrilling the masses with an intensly belted out rendition of either Dead Mans Party or Chantilly Lace. regardless, just look at that cloud of hair!

Kath is skeered
Kathy isn't near as tall as her husband and, at the same time, doesn't stand as close to the microphone. Here we see her receiving a little help from her beau in the wily ways of microphone technique. We also get to see that rockin' clock again! Kick ass!

look at me go
Ah, yes, here I am (your humble blog host), taking my turn at the mic. Boy howdy, do I look like I'm possessed by demons or what? Heh...I was probably crooning a lovely ballad such as "Bring the Noise" by Public Enemy and Anthrax. Yep...I'm sensitive like that...

cape and all
And finally, we get to close this Photoblog Phriday with a great shot of my mom apparently giving us her best Arthur Brown impression, grimace, cape and all. I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE!..and I bring you...muffins or somethin'...I dunno...

Have a great weekend, kids!

How Are You Feeling Today?..

I'm not feeling well today. I am "sick." Are you "sick," too? Did you pass along whatever you have and make me "sick?"

If you did, I will hunt you down...

Anyhow, I hope that everyone had a splendid New Year celebration. Mine was fun,...My wife, my sister, Collin, Collin's Brother and I all got together for New Year's Eve at my parents' place to play some poker and other games, including "Rock and Roll Triviologies," which is an enjoyable game, albeit rather challenging. There wasn't much drinking, at least not on my part, as my New Year's header would've suggested, I just didn't feel up to it...

The night before, on Thursday, I actually saw a movie (in a "theater," no less). My wife and I joined Collin and my sister for Napoleon Dynamite which, once you get past the first 15 minutes or so, is certainly worth witnessing. It's a hard film to describe, just suffice to say that, if you don't laugh at SOMETHING when you're watching it, check your pulse. You might be dead.

I had to work at the radio station on Friday and, for the first time in 10 years (or so), I was in charge of the "noon request hour." I have to say that it was a lot of fun, especially when my sister called in to request her favorite song and I just threw out my stock answer "We'll see what we can do for ya" and hung up...

I DID eventually play her song, but apparently she had stopped listening by then. Ah, cruel fate.

I set up the karaoke equipment on Saturday night so that my wife and I could sing some. I took it upon myself to record some of the things that we sang, but I doubt that any of them will end up on the ol' blog. You find out real quick that, when you playback the recording, no matter how good you thought you might be singing, you're no American Idol...

Sometime after the singing, and before waking up on Sunday, I became "ill." Most of yesterday I was pretty useless and I'm still feeling poorly today, as I already mentioned. Watching the Broncos beat the Indianapolis second-teamers into oblivion made me feel a little better, but having to play hockey later on (it was a playoff game) didn't serve me very well. We lost, but it's just as well. I'm finally done with the Chapel Hills Mall ice rink and, after 8 years, I'm done with the team that I played on there.

I should probably at least attempt to do some work today. Wish me luck. Happy new year to you all.

Big Time Karaoke Night Photo Recap!..

Ok, so I FINALLY got around to developing the pictures from the disposable camera that my sister bought for Karaoke Night a while (ok, a long while) back. I am prepared to share some of the aforementioned images with you all for two reasons...One, sharing is caring, I've told you that before. Secondly, a photoblog entry is considerably easier to complete than anything else. That having been said, and without further "ado," here come them pictures!

Here's Heather, pinkish tint to her hair and all, singing a song. Which song? I don't know. Suffice to say, she sang it well, whatever it was...

Here's ol' Collin, saddlin' up to the microphone! He's ready to wow us once again with his song stylings...Man, I wish I could hear that all the time...(sigh)...

Here I am with my wife, Heather...Hey, I have my mouth closed! As you can tell by the empty alcohol containers in front of us, we were having an enjoyable time...

Here's Kathy, a freelancer at the agency and one of the proud ValuHo voices...The strapping fellow on her left is her husband Chad...He recently returned from serving our country in Iraq...If you see him anywhere, buy him a drink...He's a fun guy to have around...(also, one of my favorite things to do is to "surprise" people with the camera...I consider this picture a triumph.)

The only downer to the karaoke night experience was that the goofball who was running the show seemed to believe that "louder" was "better," despite the smallish size of the bar and even despite the horrid signal distortion that we were all experiencing based on his overdriving of the amplifier...Here, Collin and Heather plug their fragile ears to prevent their ear blood from spewing onto the walls or (God forbid) onto other singers. Courtesy first!

Do NOT let this man run an audio equipment rig of any kind. If you do, your event, whatever it may be, will only end in sadness, despair, blown woofers and shattered eardrums. You have been warned...

Karaoke Night!

Well, folks, Karaoke night was fun. There was good, there was bad and there was indifferent, but all in all, I think that everybody had fun...Heather bought a disposable camera prior to the event, so there will be pictures to share. I think I'll hold off on posting a full recap until I get the pictures back. But Collin sang! We were all so proud...Oh yeah, and story contest round 4 is on now! AND IT'S HUGE! go and check it out in the Forum...

Crap, it's TUESDAY ALREADY?

So I'm back from the Memorial Day weekend...

Well, to be truthful, I didn't GO anywhere to be back from, in fact I had to work all three days at the radio station...We were doing a goofy, bogus "top 500" countdown, so my weekend consisted mostly of being enthusiastic about numbers..."Hey, here's number 380 in our Memorial 500 countdown! Whoo!" Feh.

My sister Heather, Collin and myself went to karaoke at "Diamond Deb's" on Friday night. It was a good time, the karaoke company that runs this particular show has an AMAZING selection of songs to sing...I even got to sing "The Bertha Butt Boogie" by the Jimmy Castor Bunch. Other songs I performed include "Katmandu" by Bob Seger, "Ol' Red" by Blake Shelton and "Lonely Teardrops" by Jackie Wilson. My sister also sang a wide range of songs...It's just fun to get up there and sing, if you haven't tried it, you should...We performed the duet "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" as our last song. Collin didn't sing on Friday, but he found a few that he'd like to try, so we're counting on him for next time. The only bad part about the show that night is that the place is exceedingly small and the guy running the equipment was either deaf, drunk, incompetent or a combination of all three. He had the levels cranked so high that you couldn't take a breath without producing microphone feedback. If you've ever run an audio rig, you know what I'm talking about. If not, just take my word for it, it didn't have to be half as loud as it was...

Anyway, "big ups," as the kids say, to the Colorado Springs Silverwolves "B" women's hockey team...They were victorious at the Arizona Hockey Classic in Phoenix, which was held over the Memorial Day Weekend...The 'Wolves "B" competed in the "Women 6" division and, even though it wasn't the most populous division as far as teams go, it was a hard fought and well-won championship...This account of the action comes straight from my wife, who plays defense for the "B" team. She's very excited, as well she should be...You don't win championships everyday...

She brought home a nice little trophy, I'll see if I can post a picture of it soon...It's also nice to have her home, I missed her.

Two years ago, I went down to Phoenix to play for a men's team (the Colorado Goodwood). We got smacked around and lost, seeing as the team was hastily constructed. I was invited to go and play with them again last year, that time as their goalie, but I couldn't go because my vacation schedule wouldn't allow it. I didn't get invited to go this year, but it's "all good" since I wouldn't have been able to get the time off of work anyhow. There IS talk of having a co-ed division at the tournament and it's a probability that both my wife and myself will go down to Phoenix and play together on THAT team next year...but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it...Should be lots of fun.

My new mixing board should be delivered today via UPS...Knowing UPS, they'll figure out some way to screw things up...Keep your collective fingers crossed for me...

Past that, I've added YET MORE linkies to the sidebar there, so do some clickin'...I'm currently working on "stuff," including new audio entries, so "stay tuned" as they say...There IS more to come...
