Illustration Friday on Thursday - Polar Opposites...

Hey, wow...It's effin' Thursday all of a sudden. For me, this day before the final day of the workweek came around in a stealthier manner than usual 'cause I was home sick and fixin' to die yesterday. As such, I wasn't really up for doing a full-blown illustration for this week's Illustration Friday theme word (which was "polar") EVEN THOUGH I had wanted to real bad since it was suggested by the only person whom I've ever purchased art from in my life (Jared Von Hindman). Anyway, I did have a flash of inspiration this morning and was able to slap the following together for your collective viewing enjoyment:
click it! It'll get BIG!
My money's on the Eskimo. Them motherfuckers is CRAFTY!
So there you go. As always, thanks for stopping by. You kids have a fine Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Green...With Envy!..

Hey, before I get too far into this post, effectively burying yesterday's posting under a pile of "words" (also: crap), if you're clicking through from Myspace looking for the interview with GerRee of Freak Train Fame, you can find such things right here...

Ok, now that I have THAT out of the way, LOOK! IT'S THURSDAY! Holy crap! I figure that, since it's been what?..3 weeks since I participated in the whole Illustration Friday thing. As such, I have decided (since I'm a decisive sort of fella') that it's high time I actually participate. The problem with all that is the sad fact that I just couldn't seem to make any of my ideas for "green" (which was the theme word this week, by the way) even remotely work. As a last ditch effort, I merely pulled out an old illustration that I've used for several newspaper ads here at the agency (but never as an Illustration Friday submission). This guy's name is Irv and he likes to show off all of his "green."
click on Irv to see him larger. He'd appreciate it.
I'm in ur wallet, stealing all ur paper monies
As you can plainly see, Irv has more money than you do and is also not shy about parading that fact around. Anyway, thanks for stopping by...You kids have a fine Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - How Many Bowls?..

Ahoy there, mateys! Arr, here there be a THURSDAY and, as per usual, a half-assed illustration in honor of Illustration Friday. This week's theme was "Total" and, without further ado, here be what I came up with:
click him, you can see him in larger, full on gorging action
NO TIME TO TALK! Must...Eat...
I've always enjoyed Total® cereal. Perhaps I'm not as enthusiastic as this little fella' about eating it but, just like him, I enjoy my Total® with milk and honey. Hey, all of them vitamins and minerals and shit need a little help now and then...Honey is good shit, people...Anyhow, thanks for stopping by: you kids have a fine Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - WIRED!..

As per usual, since it's Thursday, It's once again time for me to unveil my most recent (and half-assed) Illustration Friday effort. This week's theme word was "wired," one which has as many connotations as...well...Look, there's a good many ways to illustrate that word, ok? Here now is how I did:
click, it gets big
Aww, crap...What the Hell?
As you can see, the "wired" in this case is actually improperly wired. Fact is, though, you should probably read some of them Time Life do-it-your-damn-self books before you try to manufacture a large doom-robot. I'm just sayin'...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Run! Hide!..

Hey, you know what? This week's Illustration Friday topic was "hide." Yeah, it was "hide" and all I could come up with was this:
clicky for the biggy
He'll Tan Your Hide For Sure: For Only Like A Buck or Two!
It's a trapper, showing off a freshly tanned animal hide. No, seriously, it is! Look, would I joke about something as serious as this? Anyhow, thanks for stopping by...You kids have a great Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Falling For You...

Hey, lookie here! I'm back in the ol' Illustration Friday saddle again! Indeed, this week wasn't so crushingly busy as to keep me from banging out a half-assed drawing representing "gravity," which just so happened to be this week's theme word. Heck, let's get right to it, shall we?
Click him...It won't slow his fall, but you'll be able to get a better look at him.
NOT THAT CORD!
As always, thanks for stopping by...You kids have a fine Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Better Red Than...No, Wait...

Hey, kids, look-a-here, it's Thursday! Of course, what this means is that (since I actually have my proverbial "shit" together) I'm about to show you all my usual, half-assed effort at this week's Illustration Friday topic (which happened to be "red," by the by). I decided to take a cue from what I had done for Buzz a couple weeks back and depict a fella' who is from a simpler time when nicknames were not only descriptive (Lefty, Stinky, Swede) but also pretty damn uncreative. As such, prepare to meet "Big Red."
click on him, his already impressive girth will expand to epic proportions
Hey there, Red!
See, Red's real name has long been forgotten due to his bright shaggy red locks. Since his childhood, he's been called "Red" and now that he's an adult and drives truck for a local hardware store, folks have taken to calling him "Big Red," a nickname that he doesn't altogether hate since it's decidedly better than being called "Hey, Fat Ass!"

Illustration Friday on Thursday - I'm SUPER, Thanks For Asking...

Before I get started with the illustration exhibition, I have to say "happy birthday to my sister. So Happy birthday!
This week's Illustration Friday topic was "super hero," one that I've actually had a lot of opportunity to illustrate in the past. As such, I was tempted to simply use an existing piece but then I thought "no, no the fine folks that would click through to look at my effort deserve better." Whether or not that's true, at least you kids get an original, made-from-scratch illustration for the topic this week...I present "Card Trick Man!"
click him, he's ticklish (and you can see him better)
Is THIS Your Card?
You can use him to do a card trick, too! Of course, first you'll have to learn to force the 5 of diamonds. And you'd have to be next to a computer with internet access. and then you'd have to come here again (sonofcheese.com) and then have your victim friend click on the "is this your card" thing in the upper left corner of the page...Eh...On second thought, it's not worth the effort...Still, thanks for stopping by, you kids have a great Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Eighties!..

Now, don't go thinkin' that I've suddenly righted my proverbial ship and have begun posting like a crazy "regular basis" monkey...Sure, this is the SECOND week in a row that I've chosen to participate in the Illustration Friday topic (is it the start of a trend? We'll find out) and YES, this does mark TWO posts in TWO days but...Well...To be fair, I don't want anyone (including me) to get their hopes up...Regardless, I am posting my effort at this week's Illustration Friday topic so let's get on with that...The topic this week was "eighties," one which I was initially not motivated to illustrate. After all, big hair, neon colors and weird pop music can only be so inspiring. Then, though, I had a moment of clarity. What if I were to not draw the 80s per se, but draw someone IN their 80s? Well, you need not ponder the possibilities since that's exactly what I did...Here that is:
click on it to release it's inner giant
Happy 89th birthday!
So there's that. As always, thanks for stopping by...You all have a fine Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - BUZZ!..

Look, I know that it's been many a Thursday since I had either the time or inclination to participate in an Illustration Friday topic. Truth be told, I've been not only busy but slightly uninspired recently to do any drawin' outside of the drawin' that I get paid for. Today, however, all that has changed as I am ready to unveil my half-assed effort at illustrating the word "buzz." You ready? Here we go:
click him, he'll get all big n' stuff
Today, we're going to run laps.
The topic "buzz" made me think of an old-school gym coach. You know the kind, with the buzz-cut hairdo (For some reason, everytime I draw someone who sports such a hairdo, I am COMPELLED to draw a small lawnmower on the top of it. It's like a disease). See, this person would have hailed from a time when nicknames were not only prevalent, but mostly uncreative. Like "Red" or "Swede" or "Lefty" (or "Stinky"). This individual, not having red hair nor being Swedish, would've certainly received the moniker of "Buzz" from his (sadly uncreative) pals. He would then be known as "Coach Buzz" by his unfortunate pupils and his classes would mostly consist of "running laps" intermingled with the occasional calisthenic. So that's all for today. Thanks for stopping by - you have a fine Thursday now.

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Masking My True Feelings...

So yeah. I know. It's Thursday afternoon and I'm just now putting up an Illustration Friday thing ("mask" was the theme this week, just so's you know). Yes, fine, it's not a new, fresh drawing but...Well...Hey...Here it is:
clicky for biggie
Half-off! This weekend only!
So thanks for stopping by: you kids have a great Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - I Just MIGHT Post Something...

So...Yeah...It's been a few weeks (I think) since I've even attempted an Illustration Friday topic (and, sadly, nothing's actually changed). I figured that, especially since I'm likely going to fail at putting up a Friday post this week (which is just my sly way of manufacturing "surprise" when I actually DO put up something tomorrow...of course, now that I've said that...), I figured "what the heck," and here's something that loosely fits this week's theme...Just so's you know, the theme was "might" and so I went the way of the "strength" type definition of the word and yes, I'll shut up, here's my drawing:
And in this corner...
These are actually a couple of caricatures that I did maybe a year or two ago for a "fight night" themed ad for one of our clients. I sincerely hope you enjoy it. Have a great Thursday, kids...

Everyone Should Be Wearing Shirts This Time Of Year...

Hey hey, it's Tuesday! You know, as much as I'd love to whip up a long and compelling post, I'm just not gifted with the time to do such things at this point. What I DO have, though, is a new t-shirt design which I added to my Cafepress store yesterday. As per usual, I feel the need to offer a brief explanation prior to showing you kids 'de images...See, last Thursday on the Penn Jillette Show, Gilbert Gottfried was on (via the telephones) talking about his appearance on VH1's Celebrity Paranormal Project. Long story short, Penn said that he hoped the next time he and Gilbert had dinner together that Gilbert wouldn't be wearing a t-shirt that said "Holy Lawdy, I Seen a Ghost!" For whatever reason, that struck me as funny and made me want a shirt that said just that. As such, here are the images that I came up with...
click 'em, they blow up like so many balloons
Holy Lawdy!
this is the small front "heart" logo, roughly 4 inches across on the front left chest

I Seen a GHOST!
And here's the full back image, 10 inches across on the (duh) back of the shirt.

So that's that...Don't forget, tomorrow is Awesomecast day and then...Well, then it's Thanksgiving. You crazy kids have a great Tuesday now...

Illustration Friday on FRIDAY - Give Thanks, You Ingrates!..

It's Friday (Woohoo) and, sadly, I'm very much on the side of busy which means that all I have time to post is something quick (also: dirty). Indeed, no phrickin' photoblog today but how about the next best thing? No, seriously...It is...Anyway, I'm going to break my own rules and participate in Illustration Friday ON A FRIDAY! How 'bout that, huh? The newly announced topic is, shockingly, "Thanksgiving." In honor of such things, I present two (count 'em! TWO!) drawin's which I had lying around (presumably for Thanksgiving-themed sales events of yore, but one can never be too sure).
click them! They get big!

Paleface boomstick is limp and sad.

the turkey, she is DOOMED!

So there ye be. As always, thanks for stopping by...You kids have a fine weekend now.

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Spoooooky!..

Hey! It's Thursday! Just so's you all know, we're caught in the middle of a "paralyzing blizzard" in Colorado Springs at the moment. So paralyzing, in fact, that I'm the only one who made it in to work today. "So why aren't you WORKING?" you may ask...Well, don't you worry...I'll get to the working...But I wanted to share some of my half-assed Illustration Friday endeavors with you kids before I set nose to proverbial grindstone...So anyway, this week's theme was "ghost" and since I'm so frickin' prolific with the spooky shit, I gots 5 whole drawings to display...Let's get to them, shall we?
clicky to see them all big n' shit
So last week I was sent to scare this redhead...WHOO, she was hot.
at the office of the dead

Hello. I'm here for your soul.
I couldn't decide if I wanted him standing in a doorway or lying in a coffin. Whichever, you decide.

You KNOW I hate begonias
This happens all the time, I'd wager.

And someone to get the stickers out of his head
Hard to hug with no arms (and no control over one's bowels)

my buddy. MY BUDDY! My buddy and me!
I'll admit, this one sucks.

So there's that. You all have a fine Thursday now!

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Who's A Smitten Kitten?..

Hey, kids! It's Thursday! Guess what!? I'm gonna POST AN ILLUSTRATION! I know, I know, you're probably all frozen with shock (one or two of you: maybe dead from the heart attacks) but it's happening. By God, it's happening...

This week's Illustration Friday theme was "smitten" and I was able to bang out the quickest and dirtiest of the quick and dirty sketches and, since you are all so lucky, I am about to share it with you...Now.
click it, see it bigger!
That is one smitten skeleton!
So there's that. As always, thanks for stopping by! You all have a fine Thursday...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Be As Quiet As Possible...

Ok, it's Thursday, traditionally the day when I post my Illustration Friday efforts (provided that I MADE an effort regarding such things). Well, kids, I DID make an effort this week and I AM prepared to share it with you all. However. Due to circumstances beyond my control (mostly), the most recent AwesomeCast went up a bit late yesterday and so, before I get to the display of all things "drawed up," I'd like to remind you kids that the podcast is up and yes, you can listen to it.

OK, with that crap out of the way, this week's Illustration Friday theme was "quiet" and what follows is my (mostly mentally ill) interpretation.
clicky clicky to see it way biggie
You should always sneaky sneaky when you wish to murder. With an Axe.
So there's that. Thanks for stopping by, you all have a fine Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Oh, I HAVE A Quarter...

...just not for you...
Hey, it's Thursday! Of course, that means that (as long as I actually DID some drawing this week) it's once again time for me to display another of my efforts for Illustration Friday. This week's theme is "Phobia," a great one (in my opinion) with many and varied possibilities. I myself decided to combine two, two, TWO FEARS IN ONE and came up with this little drawing right here:
click on the darn thing, it'll become HUGE!
Man, I ASKED you for a damn QUARTER!
So there's that. You kids have a great Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Do You Have Change?..

What with the week's insistence that we press on from Wednesday and advance in days, we are now collectively stuck on "Thursday" which brings with it NOT JUST cold wind and rain (in my neck of the woods) BUT your chance to gaze upon yet another of my half-assed Illustration Friday offerings. This week's theme word was "change," a nebulous concept which I'm sure brought about many different interpretations. My personal interpretation of said word is right here:
when you click, it gets the chance to be large, if only for a few seconds...
So, seriously...CAN you?
So there you have it. You kids enjoy your Thursday now...

Illustration Friday on Thursday - Down On The Farm...

So anyway...Yesterday, being "big awesomecast Wednesday," can only mean that today is "Big Illustration Thursday." Since I didn't participate last Thursday due to "the lack of time," I figured that I should AT LEAST make a half-assed effort to put up SOMETHING today. The word this week was "farm" and so, in honor of such things, I now present to you a crude sketch of a proud farmer and his prize winning cow. At the county fair. Right here.
click for extra big bovinity
...moo, motherfucker moo, motherfucker moo...
So there's that. You all enjoy your Thursday now and don't forget that tomorrow marks Mexican Independence Day. So...Um...Way to go, mexicans!..
