Phrickin' Photoblog Phriday-Meet Me in (Downtown) St. Louis...

Here in Colorado Springs where I happen to reside, today has turned out to be a dreary, rainy Friday. With that said, despite any dreariness, it IS still a "Friday" and of course, this stray fact implies that I am on the verge of "bustin' out" (yet another) Phrickin' Photoblog which should make the lot of you squeal with delight, not unlike the squeal which a small mouse would emit when caught on one of those "sticky traps." Seriously, it may SOUND painful, but deep down, the little guys REALLY dig it...

Anyhow...

Today's exhibition of photographic goodness contains a small chunk of the photographs which my wife and I were able to capture during our recent trip to the St. Louis Metro Area. Just as a point of interest, I have enough pictures that didn't completely suck to break the St. Louisness into 3 whole stinkin' weeks worth of Phrickin' Photobloggery...Today's photoblog shall deal specifically with that big ol' famous arch thing...Anyway, I should delay you kids' picturey gratification no longer - HERE COME THEM PHOTOS! Click on these things, they'll puff up with pride (also: pixels)

That plane just BARELY missed that arch...
So here we are, what seemed like a quick walk from our hotel, at the base of the Gateway Arch in (beautiful) St. Louis, MO. The arch is a pretty tall structure (roughly 63 stories tall) but, obviously, not like...The TALLEST EVER...Still, pretty tall...That jet there just BARELY missed ramming into it. No, Seriously: I may be lying, but I'm dead serious about it...

Squeesh in the arch
And here we find my wife, just a quick, cramped carnival pod ride later, at the top of the Gateway Arch. To PROVE that we made it to the top of said arch, I took her picture next to the apex sign. Yes, kids: we were 630 feet from the ground there and it was a bit claustrophobic and there were a lot of people up there but it only cost like...Ten bucks...

holy CRAP! That's high!
And here we see...Wait a second...Holy CRAP...We were WAY high up! Here's a picture of the arch's shadow being cast upon the lawn area which surrounds the arch. Look at them little cars! They're so far away! Man, that's high...

There's where them Rams play
Continuing the theme of "being way high up," here's a shot towards the Edward Jones Dome where those goofy St. Louis Rams play. So...Yeah...There's that...

There's a neat shot
This here's is a shot of a domed building which isn't far from the arch. I missed what exactly goes on at this particular building, but it made a neat shot...

There's where them Cardinals play
And for you baseball fans, here's a view from the arch of the brand spankin' new, recently completed Busch Stadium where those wacky Cardinals play. While we were there, the Cards were playing in Chicago but there were two days of "open house" for the fans to check out the new ballpark. We didn't have the opportunity to get in and check it out, but it looks like an awesome ballpark from this view.

Our hotel is SOMEWHERE back there...
And finally, we're going to close out today's "way high up" photoblog with a shot which I took from the arch back towards our hotel. Now, I can SAY that our hotel is featured SOMEWHERE in this shot but...Sadly, I have to admit: I cannot find it. Perhaps the walk to the arch (which seemed quick) was farther than I estimated. Regardless, hey: look at all of them buildings...

So there you kids go: the first of 3 St. Louis-themed photoblogs which should satiate that photoblog jones which I KNOW some of you kids out there have. As always, thanks for stopping by and have yourselves a great weekend...
